Two new cookie cutters, and a fancy new Doctor Who box!

I've just put up two new cookie cutter designs.  Both were requests.  One, for a 'Cute Alpaca' sort of cutter, and I worked this up -

And the other was for the character Zacora from My Little Pony!  I thought that was a cool idea, as I really like Zacora, so I decided to get her done one day, when I actually happened to have a bit of time to work on it.  I've also been asked to do Cheese Sandwich (the Weird Al pony) and to do Trixie, so they're on my 'to do' list as well, but things are super-busy right now, so it might be a while till I get to them.

So those are the new cutters, I've gotten up!
The fancier item I've just added, however, is this!

It's a laser-engraved, multi-layered wooden box that I designed and finally got nailed now over the last few weeks.  It's based on The Moment from the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special.

It's stained two different colors for the two layers, and then poly'd to 5 coats to get it to a nice smooth shine.  Felt is glued to the inside lining.  This thing has turned out beautiful.  I've made two so far and I've got the process down pretty well, so I estimate a 5-day build-time on these for anyone interested.

I've also really improved my finishing technique, so the clocks come out a lot shinier now than they used to.

I've updated the photos of some of the clocks on the site, to show that.

Eek! Titans are coming!

Well, I was all caught up on Attack on Titan (even with the manga and the chibi episodes) and whimpering for my next titan fix when my hubby remarked on how funny it would be to see the kids eating the chibi characters like the colossal titan does every single episode.  So I had to make it happen :P

Attack on Titan cookie cutters!  These are all the characters I've bothered with at this point, but if there's actual interest, I could probably do more.  Armin, Mikasa, and Eren up top, then Jean, Levi, and Sasha below.

There's also a set with just Armin, Mikasa, and Eren available here.

Woo, bit of a delay!

Hey all - to anyone who's placed any orders over the last couple days, I just wanted to let you know there's going to be a bit of a delay!

I've been working on some custom designs for someone, and he just placed an order for 300 cutters, so all ten of my printers are busy printing that order.  At an hour and a half per cutter, it's going to be a couple more days before I've got them all done and can get back on track with the regular orders.

Working on a desk-sized Moment Prop

I've been working on this project over the last week, off-and-on, and I'm really enthused about it.  Today is the 4th of July and we've got house guests, so I haven't been able to do much with this little guy the last couple days, but I'm going to be resuming work on the finishing process tomorrow, so I'll be back with more pictures then!

This is a 5.5in square cube cut and etched with my laser cutter, and then stained, blued, and I've started finishing it (I've got 2 coats of poly on it right now, but I plan to go to 4 or 5 coats before it's done.)

And it's the Moment!  The Gallifreyan weapon of mass destruction that gained consciousness and can judge you for considering using it.  :P

The Weapon that destroyed the Time Lord race (or did it?) and ended the Time War!

Testing out to make sure the inner bits would fit properly inside the outer bits, and trying to get a feel for how it would look.

Assembled the inner cube to make sure all the pieces fit properly - took some fiddling to get it right.

Just some shots of the different sides.  All 6 sides of the inner cube are unique, and accurate to the movie prop.

Nothing is glued together yet at this point - just notched into position so I can look at it.  hah.

I sanded the outer edges of the border cube, so they wouldn't contrast quite so much with the rest of the wood.

Now it's been glued together and stained!  I decided to do the inner cube and outer cubes separate up through the 2nd coat of poly.

Since the smaller cube has to go inside the larger cube, I did the staining and poly with two of the sides still off.  Once I've got the first two poly coats done, I'll slide the inner cube inside and glue those two sides into place.  Then apply another poly coat over the whole thing together.  This way I can sand the inner cube properly for the first two coats, which are the most important for a really smooth, glossy finish.

Not done yet here (not glued and still only the first two coats of poly).  I just slid it all together for another peak and to make sure the poly on the inner cube wasn't making it too thick/snug to fit inside the outer cube (still fine).

I'll update with more when I get a bit more work done on it!  Woo.

Reading Rainbow Kickstarter

The Reading Rainbow kickstarter broke 5mil with less than a day to go before closing down! To celebrate this amazing achievement, and to honor a show that will always bring warm fuzzies of nostalgia to my heart, I made a Reading Rainbow cookie cutter set.

Science is Awesome

I made cookie cutters of three awesome 'celebrity' scientists - Neil Degrass Tyson, Bill Nye, and Michio Kaku - and in honor of them, I made a 'science is awesome' section.  It features such other awesome sciency things as the Pi symbol cookie cutter (Tau coming soon!), the Bio Hazard symbol, and the Grad Cap and Diploma set.

Firefly Cutters!

I just realized I never posted a blog update on the Firefly cutters!  Posted them all over Facebook, and totally forgot about putting an update here!

You can find them all in the Television Series section. Every crew member is available individually, or you can get the set with all of them* here -

*Okay, not "all".  I'm missing Shephard - I've got him "done", but the first print screwed up and I had to make some fixes, and I've just spaced on reprinting him since then.  I promise I'll get it up!
You can also get just Mal and Serenity as a set here -

New Sailor Moon Cutters!

So I've occasionally had requests for more of the Sailor Scouts, since I added the first batch, and I've considered doing more, off and on.  I had yet another of those requests earlier, and found myself poking at my Sailor Moon file again.

I got Sailor Uranus, Sailor Pluto, and Tuxedo Mask done, as well as adding Artemis and Diana in!  I've got some vectors started for Sailor Saturn, but I don't know when I'll get it done, so don't hold your breath :P

You can get them individually as well.  Check out the Sailor Moon section, to see all of the Sailor Moon themed cutters!

Setup Amazon Associates

Hey all - I got an integrated Amazon dealie setup with the site now, with my favorite must-have baking accessories.  If you want to do any cookie/cake/fondant decorating anything, these are all totally must-have items (I own everything I've stuck in there, so it's basically my personal recommended products page.)

It can be found here

In other news, I've finished my first tutorial video and got it up on Youtube.  I've got plans to make several more.  I actually had three more in-progress before I realized that the files on the camera got corrupted about half way through the whole process, so all the work had to be scrapped.  *sad face*

But anyway - the first tutorial (the one thats up) goes over making the sugar cookie recipe that I include with all my shipments.  After this one, I intend to do one on cake-pops in various shapes (lumpy space princess!), and then another tutorial that goes over how to make the packaged 'Sugar Cookie' bags/boxes from the grocery store, actually work with cookie cutters.  Hopefully I'll be getting those done soon.  Until then, enjoy the one I do have finished!

New Site Launch

Yay!  It's the launch of our new website!!

I'm very excited about this new move - not just because it's 'New' but also because it's definitely Better.  So what's different, other than it looking different?

Well, for one thing, we can now accept Paypal!!

This is a request I've been getting for a while, and I've had to turn people away because our previous back-end didn't support use of paypal at all.  But the new service that we're using, is totally compatible with it, so we's all set now.  (*although, if you don't absolutely have to use paypal, I'd ask that you not, as they take an extra 3% cut on top of all the other fees.)  But now the option is there for those of you who have no other options!

Our new backend is also integrated with our shipping service, so the tracking numbers are emailed to you automatically, when your order is shipped.  So no more sending me an email, asking for your tracking info.

Another great new feature is that you guys can create an account now, and keep track of your orders, as well as save your shipping info for any future orders.

I've also got product rating integrated, and user-uploaded photos.

If you've made cookies with any of the cutters, you can submit your photos to the site, and once they're approved, you'll automatically receive an email that contains a coupon code for any future cutter purchases!

Other than that, I've got a lot more control over how the pages work and look, and I think that the organization system is a lot better now than before.  It's loads easier to find things now than it was before, so hopefully you all will have less trouble tracking specific designs down.
